Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Entrepreneurs
They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Carabinieri.
These individuals are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to financial authorities, police, firefighters, or municipal police.
Beware of scams and how to react
They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement.
Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the real carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving money, disappear without a trace.
