Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Hoteliers and Shopkeepers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda area, offering subscriptions to the arma magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, general police, fire brigade, or the Comune‘s police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they ask for money, then disappear.
