Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Area to Target Local Businesses

Pretending to be Carabinieri, they make phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing magazine subscriptions from the forces.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, at times, claim to be part of the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri— simply call 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining money, disappear.
