Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Area to Trick Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately contact the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

would have money, but then vanishes from sight.
