Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda, Targeting Local Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, no longer shows themselves.
