Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, craftsmen, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the army.
They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the city guards.
How to recognize scams and how to react
They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement.
So, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
