Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance department, police, fire brigade, or local government officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or publications that have no connection to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after receiving the money, disappears.
