Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Carabinieri.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be members of the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, no longer make an appearance.
