Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, firefighters, or local municipal officers.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to magazines that are either nonexistent or have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they had money, no longer appear.
