Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Trick Garda Business Owners
Pretending to be Carabinieri, scammers contact hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.
They are not members of the military, but con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.
How to recognize scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or titles that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
if they have money, do not show themselves again.
