Scammers Pose as Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the armed forces.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

would have money, and then disappears.
