Scammers Pose as Police to Target Garda Business Owners and Vendors

Pretending to be Carabinieri, they contact hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

having money, no longer shows themselves.
