Scammers Pretending to Be Police Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pretend to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

So, be cautious and immediately inform the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
