Seized tarantulas: the Natura Viva Park in Bussolengo welcomes new specimens
Twenty-one tarantulas have recently been entrusted to the Parco Natura Viva in Bussolengo, following a seizure carried out by the Forest Carabinieri. The arachnids, belonging to seven different species that are not lethal to humans, include the rare Mexican red-knee tarantula, which is considered “threatened” according to the IUCN Red List. To accommodate them, a new Spider House has been created, featuring enclosures designed to meet the specific environmental needs of each species. The specimens come from various parts of the world, including Mexico, Brazil, and Africa. The park’s zoological director, Camillo Sandri, emphasized the ecological importance of tarantulas as natural predators that help control insect populations. During special events such as Family Halloween, visitors will also have the opportunity to observe interesting behaviors from the newcomers, such as the royal baboon tarantula, which has begun to dig tunnels in its enclosure. With this new addition, the park aims to raise public awareness about the importance of respecting these often feared and misunderstood animals. Italian Version
