The Municipality of Sirmione has recently received confirmation of its award of the Bandiera Lilla, a recognition that celebrates the commitment to disability accessibility. The official ceremony took place on Friday, May 23, at the Town Hall, in the presence of Dr. Bazzano, president of the leading cooperative, who presented the award to Mayor Luisa Lavelli and the local associations involved in the project. This achievement highlights the years of effort by the Administration to make Sirmione increasingly accessible through the design of dedicated services and aids for individuals with special needs.
The Bandiera Lilla not only represents a symbol of social inclusion but also serves as an official acknowledgment for municipalities that demonstrate improvements in accessibility for people with disabilities. Among the significant initiatives implemented in Sirmione is the redevelopment of the playground in Piazzale Montemurro, inaugurated in May 2024, which features inclusive play equipment. Additionally, activities such as an inclusive football team and events in collaboration with local associations have been promoted to ensure sustainable and accessible hospitality for all citizens.
