In recent hours, Transport Minister Matteo Salvini addressed the issue of the toll fees on the Corda Molle during the Question Time, responding to concerns raised by citizens and local authorities in Montichiari. His intervention was prompted by an inquiry from Brescia MP Fabrizio Benzoni, who highlighted the lack of concrete responses from the ministry despite repeated requests for meetings from 25 mayors and representatives of local associations. Benzoni emphasized that this situation is generating frustration among the various stakeholders involved.
Salvini clarified that a review has been initiated with the relevant offices to explore possible alternatives to the toll, a contentious issue linked to a contract signed in 2017 by former minister Delrio. Despite promises made during the electoral campaign regarding the toll-free status of the route, the matter remains unresolved and continues to provoke political tension, as evidenced by recent motions of no confidence against the minister himself for his statements. The government’s response is now eagerly awaited by the local community and the region’s economic operators.
