A new project focused on sustainable tourism has been launched in the heart of Garda Veneto, combining hospitality and food solidarity. Named “Share the Good,” the initiative is promoted by Federalberghi Garda Veneto in collaboration with Caritas Interparrocchiale Garda-Verona. The aim is to recover surplus food from hospitality establishments to provide tangible support to families in need within the community, turning waste into a valuable resource. Hotels and associated businesses will be able to donate food to the “12 Ceste” Emporium in Garda, both at the end of the tourist season and throughout the year.
The project involves the municipalities of Lazise, Bardolino, Garda, Torri del Benaco, Costermano sul Garda, and San Zeno di Montagna, and aims to strengthen the connection between tourism and the local community. Mattia Boschelli, director of Federalberghi Garda Veneto, emphasized how this initiative could enhance the area’s reputation as an ethical tourist destination. Don Pierpaolo Battistoli from Caritas added that true charity generates mutual well-being. Additionally, starting next October, it will also be possible to donate furniture and appliances from renovated establishments. Finally, an annual Social Commitment Award will be presented to the tourism business that stands out for its environmental responsibility and solidarity.
