In Lonato del Garda, the successful completion of the road rehabilitation project in the Campagna area has resulted in the full reopening of the road to vehicular traffic. This intervention, which includes the construction of a new roundabout on the SP668 Lenese, marks a significant step forward for road safety and traffic flow in a crucial area of the Lake Garda region, enhancing accessibility and usability for both residents and visitors. Today’s inauguration wraps up a project aimed at increasing safety and streamlining traffic flows. The centerpiece is the new roundabout, located at the intersection of the provincial road 668 Lenese and the access to the Campagna district. This configuration eliminates direct left turns and introduces a priority system, as well as facilitating turning maneuvers for public transport vehicles. The primary objective was to reduce speed and accident risks on a road segment characterized by heavy traffic. The Road Rehabilitation Journey The reopening of the road along the SP668 Lenese had already occurred in recent weeks, following the completion of infrastructure works. As for the municipal stretch of Via Campagna Sotto, which connects to Via Trivellino, an extended closure was necessary to finish the asphalt work and install speed bumps, responding to specific requests from residents. In the coming days, the road signage will also be finalized. Institutional Statements The intervention is the result of a collaboration between Regione Lombardia, the Province of Brescia, and the Municipality of Lonato del Garda. Emanuele Moraschini, President of the Province of Brescia, emphasized the importance of the project: “With the completion of the works on the section of road under the municipality’s jurisdiction, we have finalized a project that was deemed necessary and urgent for the safety of users of this stretch of the 668, coinciding with the junction from the Campagna district. This intervention makes one of the fundamental components of the entire road network around Lake Garda more fluid, which is increasingly frequented by residents and tourists alike, whose numbers have grown significantly. The priority of the Province and the Roads Sector is to ensure safety and accessibility of the road network, with interventions that look to the future of the territories. The scale of the investment for this project […] underscores the strategic importance of this development.” Paolo Fontana, Provincial Councillor for Roads, added: “The Province’s interventions are not only increasingly focused on protecting users of the Brescia road network, but also emphasize growth and sustainability in the territories. The roundabout constructed in Campagna – an essential project, opened last October 11 – is part of a broader context of road modernization managed by the Province. However, constant dialogue with municipal administrations, as occurred in this case with the Municipality of Lonato del Garda, is crucial to understand needs and share the design of infrastructures, ensuring maximum functionality for citizens and territories, with positive impacts on sustainability, livability, and the image, especially concerning tourists arriving at Lake Garda from various locations.” The Mayor of Lonato del Garda, Roberto Tardani, expressed gratitude for the collaboration: “This morning we officially announced the reopening of the entire road network in the Campagna district, particularly the municipal stretch of Via Campagna Sotto, which, compared to the provincial infrastructure, required a few more weeks of closure to complete the asphalting and the installation of speed reducers, as requested by residents. Once again, the collaboration with the District Councillor and the local residents for updates was essential. I thank, as always, the Province of Brescia and Regione Lombardia for their shared involvement in the project and for their consistently effective and valuable collaboration.” Investments and Collaborations for the Road Network The total investment for the project amounts to €750,000.00. Of this, €300,000.00 was financed by Regione Lombardia, €280,000.00 with funds from the Municipality of Lonato del Garda, and €170,000.00 with funds from the Province of Brescia. This allocation highlights the joint commitment of the entities to the realization of strategic infrastructures. New Rules for Via Campagna Sotto Starting from November 20, 2025, coinciding with the reopening of the SP668 Lenese, changes have been introduced to the traffic regulations on the stretch of Via Campagna Sotto. A maximum speed limit of 30 km/h has been established, and specific speed bumps have been installed, addressing the requests and safety needs expressed by residents. Italian Version
