A tragic accident has resulted in the death of Angelo Goffi, a 71-year-old mountaineer from Brescia, during a hike in the Trentino mountains. The incident occurred while Goffi was descending the southern slope of Cima Agosta, in the area of Malga d’Arnò in Val di Breguzzo, accompanied by two friends. After slipping and hitting his head against a rock, he suffered a severe head injury that led to his death within minutes. His companions quickly alerted the rescue services, but by the time they arrived, it was too late.
Goffi was a former physiotherapist who was very active in the Italian Alpine Club in Gavardo and was well-known for his commitment to local volunteer work. In 2019, his group received the gold medal at the Bulloni award for an initiative promoting mountain access for people with disabilities. The Gavardo community is deeply affected by his passing, and his funeral will be held soon, with the date yet to be determined. Goffi’s loss is a significant blow to all who knew him and to the mountaineering community in the region.
