A train accident has shaken the station of Desenzano del Garda, where a person was struck by a train, likely in an act of desperation. The incident led to the temporary suspension of services between the Peschiera and Desenzano stations, causing delays of up to 120 minutes for trains on the Milan – Verona and Venice lines. Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) announced that the disruption was necessary to allow for an investigation by the judicial authorities following the discovery of the body.
The repercussions of the incident were felt throughout the railway network, with numerous trains experiencing delays or cancellations. Carabinieri, firefighters, and railway police were dispatched to the scene to manage the situation. In response to the disruptions, many stations implemented substitute services with buses and coaches to assist stranded passengers.
