Virgilio Guidi and Zoran Mušič: Riva del Garda Hosts La Pittura Tra Luce e Tenebra Exhibition

A new exhibition titled **“Virgilio Guidi Zoran Mušič”** opens on **Saturday, 5 September 2026 at 6:30 p.m.** at the **Sala Civica “G. Craffonara”** in **Riva del Garda** (Giardini di Porta Orientale). Curated by **Maria Luisa Crosina**, the show—framed as **“La pittura tra luce e tenebra”**—will run until **22 September**.

The exhibition brings together works by **Virgilio Guidi** (1891–1984) and **Zoran Mušič** (1909–2005), both closely connected to **Venice** and to a painting practice that moves between light and darker human experiences. Guidi’s trajectory includes studies of the lagoon light around **San Marco**, participation in major collective exhibitions and the **Venice Biennales**, teaching at the **Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna** (1935–1944), and later graphic cycles such as **“Visite,” “Marine,”** and **“Figure nello spazio,”** culminating in themes like **“Cielo antico,” “Angosce,” “Giudizi,”** and **“Prigioniera.”** Mušič is presented through his monochrome Venetian views and horse landscapes, including the historical context of his 1944 arrest by the **Gestapo** and deportation from **Risiera di San Sabba** to **Dachau**; from the 1970s, he translated the Shoah into painting via the cycle **“Non siamo gli ultimi,”** based on drawings made and hidden during deportation.
