Vittorio Pierobon Unveils First Italian Liver Transplantation Book in Calcinato and Desenzano
Vittorio Pierobon will present his book “Per Ambrogio, il bimbo salvato dalla generosità di Veneti e Friulani” in two public events on February 5th in Calcinato and February 6th in Desenzano del Garda. The book recounts the story of Ambrogio Da Re, Italy’s first liver transplant patient, who was operated on in the United States in 1984 after being given a second chance through a community-driven fundraising campaign. The initiative, supported by local newspapers, prominent figures, and even the Pope and President Sandro Pertini, raised approximately 500 million lire for the procedure. The events will feature Pierobon in dialogue with journalist Francesca Gardenato; attendance is free.
