In Gargnano, the lemon houses in winter exceptionally open to the public with the event “Limonaie d’inverno,” organized by the Pro Loco and the agricultural cooperative Terre & Sapori. Starting from the weekend of November 29 and 30, visitors can participate in guided tours lasting two and a half hours at some historic lemon houses, which are usually closed during this time of year. The tours will take place every Saturday at 2:00 PM and every Sunday at 10:00 AM until December 21, and will then be repeated on January 4, 5, and 6. During these experiences, it will be possible to taste typical local products. In addition to the tours, the Cloister of San Francesco will host a quality market featuring agri-food products and local crafts on the weekends of November and December. Among the culinary events scheduled are a chestnut stand on November 29 and the event “Sapori d’incontro” in collaboration with Slow Food the following day. Tradition dictates that by November 25, the covering of the lemon houses should be completed to protect the plants from potential frosts, a practice still followed by some local owners.
