Silvana, an environmental operator at Garda Uno, was recently photographed alongside the Director of Urban Hygiene, Massimo Pedercini, and the Operations Manager for the Northern area, Luca Benedetti. Her hiring, which took place last year through a call that saw significant participation from women, represents an important step towards diversifying the workforce in a sector traditionally dominated by men.

Currently, Garda Uno employs **221 staff members**, of whom **42 are women**, accounting for **19%** of the workforce. This situation is influenced by the fact that most workers are laborers primarily engaged in activities related to **urban hygiene** and waste collection. However, there has been a steady increase in the number of female environmental operators: in 2021, there were only two, while in 2022, the number rose to three. By 2023, there were four female operators, and last year, this figure reached eleven.

Company policies aimed at balancing family life and work appear to play a crucial role in this evolution. As highlighted in the latest Sustainability Report prepared in 2024, Garda Uno has implemented measures to ensure that new parents can manage family needs without compromising professional opportunities. This approach may have contributed to attracting a growing number of women interested in pursuing careers in this field.

There is also an increase in female presence in administrative and specialized roles – which include engineers, accountants, and surveyors. Between 2022 and 2023, the number of female employees rose from **27 to 31**. The positive trend continued into 2024 with the arrival of additional female operators.

Thus, Garda Uno is proving to be not only a benchmark for environmental services but also an example of inclusivity and progress in gender equality in the workplace.
