A conference dedicated to the origins of the heraldic motto of the Guardia di Finanza took place on Wednesday, June 18, at the Vittoriale degli Italiani in Gardone Riviera. The event, titled “Nec Recisa Recedit,” was organized by the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza in Brescia in collaboration with the Il Vittoriale Foundation. Among the speakers, the Provincial Commander Col. t. ST Francesco Maceroni and the President of the Foundation Prof. Giordano Bruno Guerri opened the proceedings, which saw the participation of local mayors, military personnel, and historians.
The discussion, moderated by Lt. Emanuele Maestri, included contributions from Professor Elena Ledda and Colonel (ret.) Gerardo Severino, who delved into the significance of the motto “Nec Recisa Recedit,” a Latin phrase attributed to Gabriele D’Annunzio following the Fiume expedition in 1920. The meeting aimed to promote the history of the Italian financial police and strengthen the bond between the Corps and citizens, highlighting the traditions and military symbols that characterize its identity.
