New measures for agricultural compensation in Trentino and large carnivores
The provincial government of Trentino has recently approved new criteria for the prevention and agriculture compensation related to damages caused by large carnivores such as bears, wolves, and lynxes. The resolution, proposed by Councillor Roberto Failoni, modifies previous provisions to ensure more robust support for agricultural and livestock enterprises, removing the limits imposed by the “de minimis” regime and, for the first time, including fish farming. This intervention has been positively received by the Third Commission of the Provincial Council and is seen as a significant measure in support of the local economy.
The main innovations concern the possibility of accessing compensations beyond the limits set by previous European regulations, thanks to the introduction of new regulations. Micro, small, and medium-sized agricultural enterprises will thus benefit from more substantial aid, while companies in the aquaculture sector will now have access to preventive measures and specific compensations. Additionally, businesses will be given the option to choose the most advantageous aid regime based on their specific needs, ensuring greater flexibility in accessing compensations that cover 100% of the market value of damaged goods.
