Growth of Luxury Tourism: Lake Garda Conquers Brazil

Luxury tourism on Lake Garda is experiencing significant growth, with Brazil emerging as one of the key emerging markets. According to data provided by Visit Brescia, 14,700 Brazilian arrivals are expected in 2024, marking a 32% increase, along with over 33,900 overnight stays, which represents a 27% rise. This expansion is supported by a growing middle class and an increasing GDP, with estimates suggesting a middle class of 74 million people by 2035. In response to this trend, Visit Brescia has launched the “Target Brazil” campaign aimed at attracting tourists from South America through trade fairs and collaborations with specialized luxury tour operators. Currently, ten Brazilian tour operators are exploring the opportunities offered by the Brescia area until October 29, participating in workshops with local sellers. Silvana Hubaide, a travel agent from São Paulo and Belo Horizonte, reports a 45% increase in bookings for trips to Brescia and Lake Garda. Brazilian tourists spend an average of 900 euros per day on exclusive experiences such as boat tours and visits to local wineries, making Italian wine a symbol of prestige. With over 7,500 compatriots departing daily for Europe and three direct flights to Italy, the Brazilian market represents a valuable resource for the region’s tourism promotion. Italian Version
