Urban Road Projects: €800M Funds for Resurfacing and Safety
For the maintenance of the urban road network, 300 million lire were allocated in 2000, and another 500 million will be provided next year. This was announced by the councilor for Public Works and Budget, Innocente Sereni, who is overseeing the preliminary design of several interventions. All the projects will therefore be put out to tender by the end of the year.
Specific interventions on main streets
Regarding via IV Novembre, resurfacing and public lighting will be renovated, and a sidewalk will be built from the fountain to the intersection with via Lonato. Via Isabella d’Este, on the other hand, will be resurfaced, and the existing bike-pedestrian lane will be delineated from the rest of the road with concrete blocks.
Reconstruction of roads in the districts
In Prede, the main street of the district will be resurfaced and will receive a sidewalk, while in Astore, the asphalt of the street of the former elementary schools will be replaced, with the construction of a retaining wall for the slope, allowing for the widening of the roadbed. As for via don Mazzolari, the project includes resurfacing, removal of concrete structures, and the construction of a bike lane along one side of the road.
Already awarded projects
Staying in the realm of road infrastructure, Sereni recalled that tenders have already been awarded for the bike lane on via padre Costanzo Beschi and for the bus stop between via Mazzini and via Pisacane. The first project will enable the resurfacing of the edge of the carriageway and improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists. The second will be the first step towards removing buses from the historic center and reorganizing urban traffic around the former Goitese state road.
