Castiglione Leaders Seek Hospital Updates Amid Unified Concerns

It is a document unanimously shared that emerged from the meeting of the group leaders’ conference convened on Friday evening in Castiglione delle Stiviere.

Healthcare issue and unified position

The healthcare issue, particularly the safeguarding of Ospedale San Pellegrini, was addressed with great concern by all political forces, which ultimately decided it was necessary to adopt a common stance.

The president of the Castellionese city council, Massimo Novazzi, handed over to the only absent member of the evening, the Rifondazione group leader, Tino Ferlenga, the written document from Friday night, in order to obtain his signature as well.

Request for clarification on the hospital project

Basically, after an in-depth discussion involving the mayor Sigurtà and the assessors, the city council decided to officially request from the general management of Poma an update on the ongoing projects for Castiglione’s hospital.

“We know, both from statements and rumors circulating in the hospital — said the president of the city council, Massimo Novazzi, commenting on the group leaders’ conference — that the situation is difficult.

There are persistent rumors that many departments will be closed. Additionally, we had to realize that the three-year strategic plan approved by the Region is paused, and the initiatives that had begun in Castiglione have not been continued.”

According to the city council, before taking strong actions, it is crucial to receive an official response from the general management of Poma. The response will be evaluated, and appropriate measures will be taken. For now, there has been no mention of convening an open city council meeting.
