Riva and Tenno Implement Safety Measures Amid Ongoing Flood Risks

The situation remains under control in the municipality of Riva, considering that floods have now become commonplace and the fire brigade’s interventions can unfortunately be classified as “routine procedures”.

The municipal administration has meanwhile taken steps to address the areas rendered dangerous by the recent heavy rains, aiming to prevent any hazards to people and property.

The road connecting Foci, just north of San Giacomo, and Località Dom has been closed: a low wall that marks the small street shows significant signs of deterioration, justifying the mayor’s decision.

At the same time, the mayor ordered the owner of the wall to carry out repairs and secure it as soon as possible. If this is not done, the Comune will proceed with the work ex officio, with costs and expenses charged to the owner.

Safety measures and prohibitions

The walkway between Punta Sabbioni and the Punta Lido ice cream shop has also been closed, due to the imminent danger that the Varone and Albola streams may flood again near their mouth.

The prohibition of pedestrian access will remain in effect until the emergency is over.

In the municipality of Tenno, ongoing monitoring is being carried out on the landslide between the hamlet of Cologna and the cemetery.

The landslide extends over about thirty meters and is slowly moving downstream. Fortunately, there are no residences in that area, but the situation understandably causes concern.

Yesterday as well, Mayor Gianmarco Marocchi and the head of the technical office, surveyor Roberto Malossini, conducted an inspection of the area, and it appears that the micropiles installed when the sidewalk was built have so far prevented further collapses of the roadbed.

The road leading to Località Piazze in the municipality of Tenno has also been closed.

This measure was taken by the administration strictly as a precaution.
