Garda Uno Approves New Headquarters Purchase and Future Expansion
With the unanimous vote of the General Assembly, the operation for the purchase of the new headquarters of the Consorzio Garda Uno in Padenghe was approved.
Details about the purchase and the headquarters
This operation involves an investment of 2,850,000,000 lire and is financed through a ten-year leasing agreement. The modern-style building, designed by architect Betta, is the structure currently hosting the branch of BCC del Garda, located on via Barbieri, right in front of the municipal headquarters at Palazzo Barbieri.
A prestigious headquarters that is especially suitable to meet the increasingly greater demands required by the Azienda Speciale consortile, also in light of the expanding services offered to the 20 Comune-soci. Currently, there are just under 140 employees working for the Consortium, with about twenty of them employed across various offices.
Therefore, a building that can no longer accommodate the staff within the Portese premises, which previously housed the local elementary school. The relocation is scheduled to take place by 2001.
Budget and future projects
The three-year forecast budget for 2001/2003 has also been approved, along with the budget forecast for the year 2001, estimated at just under 37 billion lire. “With 2001,” stated Vice President Mario Quecchia, “the Integrated Water Service will be launched for the members, practically all the affiliated municipalities, which have agreed to delegate its management to the Company.”
Consequently, the statutory object of the Consorzio can be considered largely fulfilled, and Garda Uno can now be recognized as a true multiservice enterprise.
Members and services offered
As mentioned earlier, twenty are the Member municipalities, users of the services provided by the Company, in addition to the Province of Brescia, totaling 94,917 resident users. Among the less frequent users are the municipalities of Lonato, which in the past delegated its services to other companies (though the representative of the new administration has signaled positive intentions to review previous decisions), and Sirmione, which uses only the sanitation system.
Furthermore, Garda Uno is also responsible for the cleaning of Lake Garda and Lake Idro. Lastly, in the territory of the municipality of Tremosine, the first plant of the Gas distribution company is currently under construction.
Protocols and transformations
The proposal, unanimously approved, delegates to the board of directors the task of initiating negotiations to implement a memorandum of understanding between Azienda Garda Uno and Azienda Gardesana Servizi (Veronese side) to identify and achieve an Optimal Territorial Area at the interregional level, with Garda dimension, as mandated by the law “Galli”.
The representatives of the municipalities received a draft concerning the transformation of the Company into a Spa, but further discussions on this matter will take place in the near future.
