Garda Tourism Training Enhances Cultural and Environmental Promotion

The training course for cultural and tourist animators that began in November has been successfully completed, with the participation of 25 young people. The series of lessons was organized by the Centro turistico giovanile Monte Baldo with the patronage of the Provincia di Verona, the Apt 12, and in collaboration with the libraries of Baldo-Garda and the administrations of Affi, Bardolino, Caprino, Cavaion, Costermano, and Torri.

Objectives and activities of the project

“The villages around the lake and the inland areas of Garda possess a rich environmental, historical, artistic, and traditional heritage, still in many cases little known. However, beyond tourist information and promotion, Garda lacks a dedicated hospitality and cultural animation service for visitors—something that has long been available in other Italian locations, such as the Adriatic beaches or Trentino,” explains the provincial tourism assessor Davide Bendinelli.

“To address this gap, a project has been developed focused on reception, tourist entertainment, culture, and environmental activities. It will start at the end of April and continue through October, aiming to provide a higher quality experience that enhances the vacation through the valorizations of the environmental, historical, and cultural aspects of the Garda territory and the inland areas, making them known and appreciated by tourists.”

The newly trained animators will be responsible for illustrating the environment and the main monuments of Baldo Garda to both Italian and foreign tourists through information evenings and awareness campaigns, as well as guided visits and excursions to the area’s key sites and landmarks: from rock carvings to Romanesque chapels, from Baldense mountain huts to Moscal, from Mount Luppia to villas, from Valsorda to Garda Fortress or local museums.

Itineraries and territorial promotion

“Special and unusual itineraries have been prepared, and some environments and monuments, such as chapels, villas, and parks—many of which are closed or rarely open—will be accessible to help tourists appreciate everything our territory has to offer in a coordinated way and in collaboration with local administrations,” emphasizes Marco Zaninelli, commissioner of the Tourism Promotion Agency.

“The initiative coordinated by the Ctg is experimental and aims to enhance Garda’s tourism offerings, also catering to the cultural needs of travelers who choose Garda and its inland areas for their holidays.”
