Brescia Olive Oil Exhibition Highlights Industry Strength and Tourism Synergy
Even with a gloomy and threatening sky, the 5th edition of the “Regione Olio extravergine di oliva D.O.P. ‘Olea 2001′” Exhibition was successfully concluded.
The spotlight is now off, including for the organizers, Comune and AIPOL, and it is time to tally the results, which, at first glance, cannot necessarily be considered wholly positive.
And the positivity of an event is primarily evident and measurable through the turnout of both the public and the exhibitors.
The audience arrived in large numbers at the former Palazzo Monte di Pietà to see and taste the various oils offered by numerous exhibitors spanning the entire Brescia shore of Lake Garda, from Desenzano to Maderno, passing through Valtenesi, of course.
Inauguration and Official Moments
The ribbon-cutting, accompanied by the national anthem played by the San Felice Music Corps, was carried out jointly by Mayor Ambrogio Florioli and the provincial tourism assessor Ermes Buffoli.
Witnesses included Pino Mongiello, President of the Garda Community, Gianluigi Marsiletti, Deputy Mayor of San Felice, Giovanni Mazzoldi, President of AIPOL, and Eurosia Gasparini, the coordinator of the exhibition.
Standard greetings and courtesies, with awards and recognition diplomas given both to the exhibitors and the winners of the 1st National Contest for the Packaging of Quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil Bottles, won among 61 participants by an emilian from Parma, then followed by the official viewing of the exhibitors by the authorities.
Upcoming Events
“On this occasion,” stated Mayor Florioli, “we should have inaugurated the new headquarters of the San Felice Agricultural Cooperative (founded in 1946, ed.), but unfortunately, some technical hurdles forced us to postpone this event by a few weeks.”
What is certain is that this event is becoming one of the main appointments in the sector on Garda and also within the Province of Brescia.
“Tourism and agriculture” — reaffirmed Buffoli — “must, as we have been emphasizing for some time, go hand in hand: where there is agriculture, and vice versa, there is tourism.”
This tourism is centered on enogastronomy but, of course, relies on top-quality, undoubtedly unmatched products. And this is also what tourists arriving on the shores of Garda seek and, fortunately, find!”
