Italy’s Icons Unite: Riva Boats and Ferrari Cars Showcase on Lake Garda

Riva and Ferrari, the two most iconic symbols of made in Italy. The splendid mahogany motorboats built by the Sarnico shipyards and the dazzling racing cars currently setting the pace in Formula 1 will be the protagonists from July 27 to 29 on Lake Garda, based in Desenzano.

The gathering and related initiatives

The magical gathering, because there are no other suitable words when talking about these “supercars” on water and on land, is entering its second edition. The promise made last year to repeat the event by Curzio Moretti, creator and director, has found not only the same enthusiasm and participants as the first success but also new stimuli and support.

For example, Poste Italiane has issued a special philatelic cancellation that will take place on July 28 in Piazza Malvezzi. The organizers, for their part, will distribute free postcards to be franked with the special stamp.

Yesterday, the event was presented and showcased at Vecchia Lugana in Sirmione, in the presence of Sirmione Mayor Maurizio Ferrari, Desenzano Mayor Cino Anelli, Curzio Moretti himself, provincial councilor Ermes Buffoli, and other authorities.

Several towns are involved in various capacities: the aforementioned Desenzano and Sirmione, then Padenghe, Gardone Riviera, and Montichiari. The Riva motorboats and Ferrari cars, objects of worship and admiration worldwide, will be accessible to the thousands of tourists flocking to the lakeside locations.

The main locations and events

An unrepeatable opportunity, no doubt. The setting for the three-day event will be the enchanting Porto Vecchio of Desenzano.

But the two classic symbols of our made in Italy will also be showcased in another location that, thanks to its honorary citizen, has gained international prominence: Gardone Riviera.

Some cars and boats will be right in Gabriele d’Annunzio’s town, at the Vittoriale, where guided tours inside the Vittoriale and its park will be held; followed by a candlelit dinner in the gardens of the historic residence.

The following day, Saturday 28, the program will feature another exceptional event: the aerial display of jets over Lake Garda.

In the afternoon, a parade of Ferrari cars and Riva boats along the lakeside and in the waters of Salò and Gardone is planned.

Saturday evening will conclude with a world-class gala at a restaurant in Montichiari, followed by a medieval night re-enactment in the castle park of Castello Bonoris in Montichiari.

The third and final day of the gathering, Sunday, July 29, will feature a final showcase of Ferrari in the historic center of Desenzano and Riva boats in Porto Vecchio and in front of the lakeside promenade.

Maranello’s Ferrari has announced it will send the Ferrari F300, the world champion F1 car from last season, to the event.

Wines and conclusions

Lastly, wines Lugana and Visconti will also be present, two labels now renowned worldwide.

As can be seen, a program destined to delight both motorboat enthusiasts and fans of the prestigious Red Cars of Maranello.
