Garda Scam Alert: Fake Carabinieri Offer Phony Magazine Subscriptions

They masquerade as carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who, after taking your money, disappear.
