Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Garda Businesses in Phone Calls

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the mid and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

In reality, these are scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the financial police, police, fire brigades, or local police officers.

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately alert the carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have fallen victim to individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear.
