Garda Scam Alert: Fake Police Pose as Carabinieri Offering Magazine Subs

The perpetrators pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not genuine military personnel but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear completely.
