Scammers Pose as Police to Promote Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to Arma magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, firefighters, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often suggest subscriptions to magazines that do not exist or that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So be cautious and immediately inform the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by those who,

after taking the money, disappear without a trace.
