They impersonate Carabinieri when phoning hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs around Lake Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines from the carabinieri.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.
