Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They are posing as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to the authorities.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking your money, disappear.
