Garda Scammers Pretend to Be Carabinieri in Fake Subscription Calls

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance department, the police, firefighters, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

So beware and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
