Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Region Residents

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the army.

These individuals are not military personnel but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigades, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

So be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after receiving the money, disappear and do not make further contact.
