Garda Area Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Target Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to financial authorities, the police, the fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,
