Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Region to Trick Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify genuine Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

once they have the money, disappear without a trace.
