Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone contacts with hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by those who,

after receiving the money, disappear.
