Scammers Pose as Carabinieri and Police to Solicit Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams and How to React

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who, after obtaining the money, disappears.
