Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Police, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or to magazines unrelated to the authorities.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have become a target of those who,
