Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or local police officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

once possessing the sum of money, disappear.
