Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Target Businesses in Garda Area

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from case to case, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the local police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those entirely unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they had money, would no longer be visible.
