Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners
They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.
These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.
How to recognize scams and how to react
They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement.
Therefore, be vigilant and immediately inform the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
has money, and then disappears.
